Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 4: Foo Cexiang on Singapore Food Story 2 and hawker culture
For the strategies of Singapore Food Story 2 to be successful, Singapore will need to forge a strong alliance between its food and supply chain logistics sectors. MP Foo Cexiang said this in parliament on Tuesday (Mar 3), outlining three suggestions to do so. He noted that with the development of the Singapore Food Story 2, it is also time to build a “Hawker Story 2”. He also urged the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment to reconsider allowing work permit holders to work as stall assistants in hawker centres, for stalls that have been operating for more than 10 years.
