While the Voluntary Early Redevelopment Scheme (VERS) should not create a windfall for affected homeowners, it should also not shortchange them, said MP Xie Yao Quan. He emphasised that all affected homeowners should get a fair deal and fair compensation from VERS. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), he urged the Ministry of National Development to consider making the baseline VERS compensation package one in which an affected homeowner will not need to top up cash for a replacement flat.
