Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 5: Yip Hon Weng on enhancing elderly care and support
The government must build a community of care that ensures every senior lives not only longer but with dignity at the end, said MP Yip Hon Weng. Speaking in parliament on Wednesday (Mar 4), he asked for an update on formalising social prescribing in primary care and outcomes under Healthier SG. Turning to dementia, he pointed out that families still struggle to access specific day care and respite services. He wanted to know how the government is stepping up dementia day care and respite capacity, as well as strengthening public education. He also wanted to know what steps are being taken to expand home-based palliative capacity.
