Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 6: Dinesh Vasu Dash on building strong communities and an ecosystem of care

The Indian Heritage Centre is looking to boost cultural placemaking for Little India and will engage the local Indian community and stakeholders in the precinct. Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth Dinesh Vasu Dash said this in parliament on Thursday (Mar 5). He also laid out the initial priorities of a new committee led by himself and Murali Pillai to build a strong Indian community. It will hold an annual forum to discuss aspirations and concerns, with the first dialogue in April 2026. Mr Dinesh updated the House on efforts to integrate foreign professionals in the workplace, to help them understand Singapore’s culture, values and norms. He also announced up to S$30 million in support for the co-op movement over the next 10 years, to develop new capabilities to address people’s evolving needs.
