Committee of Supply 2026 debate, Day 6: Goh Hanyan on building support and creating spaces for youths to lead

19:17 Min

Many young people crave real-life connections, like pushing through tough moments with others. This is why the government will progressively scale up the MOE-Outward Bound Singapore Challenge (MOC) Programme to the entire Secondary 3 cohort by 2030. Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Culture, Community and Youth Goh Hanyan, who announced this in parliament on Thursday (Mar 5), said the shared experiences will enable them to learn life skills, gain confidence in tackling the unknown and make lasting friendships. Similarly, to ensure that youths will have someone to journey with them through the big and small leaps in life, the government will grow mentorship opportunities and bring them directly to the schools. Ms Goh said the government is committed to building a generation of young people who are confident to try, connect and contribute.
