Debate on President’s Address: Rahayu Mahzam on nurturing social responsibility
Singapore has developed to a stage where, in general, people’s basic needs have been met. Now, it must nurture the soul of its society, said Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Health and Law Rahayu Mahzam. She said Singaporeans have to step up, both individually and collectively, to build the society they want to see. As more stakeholders are called upon to play a role, she said attention should be paid to two areas - building the capabilities of volunteers, and nurturing a culture of social responsibility and sense of community. Ms Rahayu spoke in Parliament on Thursday (Apr 20).
