Ministerial statement: Sim Ann on the situation in the Middle East
Singapore will recognise the State of Palestine when it has an effective government that accepts Israel's right to exist and categorically renounces terrorism. Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sim Ann reiterated Singapore’s position on the recognition of Palestinian statehood in parliament on Monday (Sep 22). She said Singapore will continue to track developments closely, with events unfolding quickly and remaining unpredictable. If the situation continues to deteriorate or if Israel takes further steps to extinguish a two-state solution, Singapore will reconsider its position on recognition of Palestinian statehood, she added.
