Debate on President’s speech: Choo Pei Ling on healthcare and research

Strategic long-term planning is essential to manage downstream healthcare and support those already living with illness, said MP Choo Pei Ling. Judicious allocation of resources will determine whether Singapore’s healthcare standards remain sustainable and continue to improve, she said in parliament on Thursday (Sep 25). Turning to research, she urged the government to commit to long-term strategic research domain fields where Singapore can lead in. Singapore’s research efforts must deliver not just quantity and activity, but also authentic global impact, she added.
