Debate on President’s speech: Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim on securing a stronger, fairer and more united future for Singapore
Singaporeans must face the future with foresight, fortitude and faith in one another as the world changes in profound ways and the global order frays. Welcoming that reminder delivered by President Tharman Shanmugaratnam in his speech at the opening of the 15th Parliament of Singapore, MP Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim called for Singapore to respond on three fronts - unity at home, competitiveness through innovation and conviction in the rule of law. He said Singapore has to keep its families firm and its society inclusive; its people skilled, its enterprises bold and its Government innovative with integrity; its politics principled and laws respected, and its people united. Mr Zhulkarnain spoke in parliament on Monday (Sep 22).
