Dennis Tan on Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Bill and Judicial Service (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill
The establishment of a separate Judicial Service from the current Legal Service will "promulgate even greater judicial independence", said MP Dennis Tan. Speaking in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3), he asked how different the career tracks will be and if there are plans to differentiate remuneration frameworks to account for the differences in specialisation. Mr Tan also sought an update on whether the current number of judicial officers is enough, based on caseloads in the courts.
