Don Wee on Economic Expansion Incentives (Relief from Income Tax) (Amendment) Bill
High upfront capital costs, long payback periods and the uncertainty of long-term investments - these are major challenges companies face as they seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, said MP Don Wee. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Feb 14), he said the Economic Expansion Incentives (Relief from Income Tax) (Amendment) Bill will definitely help to reduce the barriers and encourage more green investments. He appealed for additional support for small- and medium-sized enterprises to develop their sustainability capabilities and improve their energy efficiency. He hopes to see more such incentives in the upcoming Budget for the new financial year. He also sought clarifications on the Bill.
