FIFA WORLD CUP 2026: South Korea president calls for government probe into tournament exit
South Korea president Lee Jae Myung has called for an investigation into the sports ministry after the national team’s exit at the group-stage of the FIFA World Cup. The Taeguk warriors failed to progress to the knockouts - losing 1-nil in back-to-back matches against co-hosts Mexico and South Africa, finishing outside the eight best third-placed teams advancing to the round of 32. Mr Lee apologised for what he called an unacceptable outcome, putting the blame on incompetence in leadership and a failure in organisation and personnel. Head coach Hong Myung-Bo has since resigned. Grace Shin joins us in the studio with more.
