Firms investigated after more than 100 workers gather over unpaid salaries
Two firms are under investigation for allegedly failing to pay their employees. This is after more than 100 work permit holders gathered at the Manpower Ministry's service centre in Bendemeer. The companies in question are KPA Engineering, which deals in air-conditioner services, and SK Industries - a parts supplier. The Migrant Workers' Centre says its staff met the disgruntled workers and many had little or no money for food or transportation. The authorities say they are helping the workers with their salary claims. KPA Engineering cited cash-flow problems and said it’s working with authorities to resolve the matter. But when our reporter Nikhil Khattar explored the addresses linked to the company, he found little signs of its operation.
