Former Chinese premier Zhu Rongji dies aged 97
Former Chinese premier Zhu Rongji has died aged 97. He was the country's fifth premier, in power from 1998 to 2003. He was regarded as an ardent reformist who helped steer China into the modern era. He led efforts to secure entry into the World Trade Organization. State media reported Mr Zhu passed away in Beijing at around 11am local time after an unsuccessful medical treatment.
