Gan Siow Huang on 'inclusive' flexible work arrangements

15:32 Min

Businesses have adapted quickly during the COVID-19 pandemic, with many putting in place work-from-home arrangements. Such arrangements are expected to become "more mainstream", said Minister of State for Manpower Gan Siow Huang. Replying to questions from MPs in Parliament on Tuesday (Jan 11), she said the majority of employers signalled they would allow their workers to continue to work from home for at least a quarter of the time. She cautioned against rushing into hasty legislation that may impede Singapore's economic recovery. She said the Government's approach to workplace flexibility should be inclusive and holistic, and not just about working from home. The Government will continue to work with its tripartite partners to expand flexible work arrangements in a sustainable manner, she said.
