Grace Fu on Singapore ‘working flat out’ towards COP28 goals
Singapore has been updating some of its Green Plan goals almost annually, said Sustainability and the Environment Minister Grace Fu. Replying to questions from MPs in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 10), she assured the House that all the participating ministries are “working flat out” to be ahead and leveraging the massive investments in R&D in new areas. Ms Fu said it is by no means easy given the country’s constraints but Singapore is looking at some of the alternatives that have yet to come on-stream, in sectors such as maritime and aviation. She stressed that Singapore will do its very best for climate action and decarbonisation. Singapore is moving in many different ways to be on the “cusp of change”, she added. “The change is going to be massive. We will not be alone and we want to really be out there to be early enough to tap the change and not to be left behind, but at the same time also capture opportunities that may arise.”
