Grace Fu on Singapore’s air quality targets
In 2021 and 2022, Singapore’s air quality was in the good or moderate range 99.5 per cent and 100 per cent of the days respectively. Singapore has met the 2020 air quality targets for nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulphur dioxide and fine particulate matter or PM2.5. PM10 and ozone “continue to be a challenge” due to multiple factors. Sustainability and the Environment Minister Grace Fu gave this update in Parliament on Wednesday (Jul 5) in response to an MP’s questions. She said Singapore will continue to review its air quality targets and policies to address local pollutant emissions. For example, emission standards for motorcycles and existing industrial plants were further tightened this year.
