Grace Fu on Singapore’s position on the Loss and Damage Fund set up in COP27
Singapore has not reached an understanding of what the Loss and Damage Fund set up in COP27 entails as it did not have a chance to discuss this internationally. Therefore, it has not decided on whether it would contribute to or claim from this fund. Sustainability and the Environment Minister Grace Fu stated this in reply to MP Leon Perera’s question in Parliament on Friday (Apr 21). She said Singapore’s position is “open”. It will take into consideration the views of Singaporeans, as well as the needs of the international community, she said. She also asked Mr Perera to state his Workers’ Party’s position on whether it supports contributing to the fund, and if so, by how much and to which countries.
