Hany Soh on Courts (Civil and Criminal Justice) Reform Bill

More should be done to reduce the cost of litigation and enhance convenience for court users, said MP Hany Soh in Parliament on Tuesday (Sep 14). She suggested working on the "3 Hows" - how to make the law a lot easier for a lay person to understand, how to simplify the court process to avoid unnecessary wastage of time and resources, and how to achieve cost efficiency. She asked if the Government can tap on the expertise of GovTech to improve the e-litigation system or create a virtual court platform that is equipped with an integrated chat function and a dynamic queue system. She also called for more support for smaller law firms, such as purchasing the necessary equipment to go digital, to help them stay competitive.
