Hany Soh on Women's Charter (Amendment) Bill

10:45 Min

There are ways to better manage the entire divorce process and minimise the impact on children if everyone is on the same page, said MP Hany Soh. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Jan 10), she stressed the need for collaborative, holistic and multi-disciplinary interventions to ensure the welfare of affected children. She hopes collective efforts would help to shift the resolution of family disputes to focus on solutions and spare children the stresses. She said therapeutic programmes or counselling will help parents in managing their problems. She wanted to know if there will be fees for such sessions. She also asked the Government to elaborate on what type of reasons are deemed acceptable to substantiate that the marriage has broken down irretrievably.
