Indranee Rajah on strengthening processes to minimise procurement lapses
Given the scale and complexity of Government operations, it will be unrealistic to expect zero lapses in the use of public funds, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Finance Indranee Rajah. What is important is having the means to pick up such lapses and address them in an upfront and transparent manner, she said in Parliament on Monday (Sep 13) in reply to questions from MPs. She outlined the actions to improve processes and capabilities. These cover more complex types of procurement and contract management, particularly in IT and development projects. She stressed that the Government takes a serious view of irregularities and every case is thoroughly investigated.Â
