Jamus Lim on Intellectual Property (Amendment) Bill
Consolidating intellectual property-related laws into a single omnibus Act could be more streamlined and user-friendly than making changes which span five separate Acts, said MP Jamus Lim in Parliament on Wednesday (Jan 12). Speaking on the Intellectual Property (Amendment) Bill, he also asked if Singapore should be “more guarded” in its treatment of granting trademarks. He noted that unlike copyrights or patents, legally enforceable trademarks do not generally promote competitive, innovative activity.
