Singapore’s sporting culture will only be elevated when Singaporeans do not view athletes’ accomplishments as transactional, but unconditional, said MP Jamus Lim in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 5). He said sport is as much about overcoming personal barriers as about beating the competition. He lauded many of Singapore’s athletes for rising to the occasion at the recent Tokyo Games and establishing new individual records, even if medals were not involved.
