Janil Puthucheary on addressing complaints made to Singapore Medical Council
Seventy per cent of complaint cases lodged with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) in 2022 were concluded within the year, compared with 23 per cent in 2018. This was due to improvements made over the past few years such as expanding manpower resources, streamlining processes, enhancing training, introducing inquiry committees and enabling SMC to tap a wider pool of personnel to chair complaints-related committees. Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary shared these details in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 22) when answering an MP’s questions.
