09:03 Min

Singapore has 367 COVID-19 paediatric cases to date, with 172 of them infected with the Delta variant. Children below the age of 12 account for 0.6 per cent of all local infections. Among those infected, 13.6 per cent (50 cases) were aged zero to one, 22.6 per cent (83 cases) aged two to four, 20.7 per cent (76 cases) aged five to six and 43.1 per cent (158 cases) aged seven to 12. No child has developed severe illness requiring oxygen supplementation or ICU care. Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary gave this update in reply to Parliamentary questions on Tuesday (Sep 14). He said Singapore is mindful that the number of cases in the community is rising and there may be more children infected with COVID-19 in future. The Government will ensure that they get appropriate care if their illness is more severe, he said.
