Janil Puthucheary on 'energy stick' nasal inhalers
The Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) are closely monitoring the use of “energy stick” nasal inhalers, especially because of the marketing on social media as well as its availability of flavours which target the young, said Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary in Parliament on Monday (Mar 4). He stated that the product claims to give its users an energy boost and contains ingredients similar to conventional nasal decongestant inhalers. He added that MOH and HSA will continue to evaluate the product to ensure that these inhalers are not adulterated with harmful ingredients such as nicotine as they evolve. Dr Janil spoke in response to an MP's questions.
