Janil Puthucheary on proper use of A&E services
The Government will continue to educate the public on the proper use of Accident and Emergency (A&E) departments, said Senior Minister of State for Health Janil Puthucheary. Replying to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Wednesday (Feb 7), he said with the implementation of Healthier SG, all 1,000 Healthier SG general practitioner clinics are on board the GPFirst programme. The Government has also set up an urgent care centre in the north to ease the A&E load at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Hospitals are encouraging the greater use of telemedicine, including a helpline to advise people on where to seek treatment. Dr Janil said these initiatives are ongoing as the Government continues to manage rising caseloads due to infectious diseases outbreaks and an ageing population.
