Johor state election: PAS failed to revive ties with former ally UMNO, says Bersatu chief Muhyiddin
Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin says Islamic party PAS has failed in its bid to revive political cooperation with former ally UMNO. He claimed that the two largest Malay-Muslim parties have not been able to reach a quid-pro-quo arrangement for seats in the Johor state election. Mr Muhyiddin's comments come amid tensions within Malaysia’s opposition coalition Perikatan Nasional. PAS severed ties with Mr Muhyiddin's Bersatu in June, but both parties are contesting in the Johor election under the Perikatan Nasional banner and not competing against each other in any seats.
