Khoo Teck Puat Hospital to go restraint-free at more wards after programme shows results
To better support elderly patients, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital will stop the use of physical restraints at more wards over the next three years. The hospital saw lower levels of burnout among staff and heightened cooperation from patients since this approach was introduced a year ago. More than 500 personnel have been trained to shift their care approach to be relationship-centred. The hospital also plans to introduce these standards to 10 non-geriatric wards to better support patients. Alexandra Anand reports.
