Koh Poh Koon on ensuring affordable meals at hawker centres
The National Environment Agency (NEA) does not regulate prices of food at hawker centres but aims to provide hawkers with a conducive environment to sell affordable food. Despite rising costs, affordable meal options remain available at hawker centres, including those managed by NEA and town councils, as well as socially conscious enterprises. Operators are required to keep food affordable and have done so by ensuring at least one budget meal option per stall. Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Koh Poh Koon said this in reply to an MP’s questions in Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 3).
