Koh Poh Koon on minimum annual leave entitlement
In 2022, over 90 per cent of full-time resident employees aged 25 to 64 had more than seven days of annual leave, and nearly 65 per cent had 15 days or more - higher than the 61.1 per cent in 2018. These figures were given by Senior Minister of State for Manpower Koh Poh Koon in Parliament on Wednesday (Apr 3). He said that while the law stipulates a minimum entitlement of seven days’ annual leave, this rises by one day per year of service with the same employer. He added that annual leave must be seen alongside other entitlements like paid public holidays, sick leave and parental leave. The impact on business costs must also be considered. Replying to an MP’s question, Dr Koh said there are no plans to review the annual leave entitlement for now.
