Medical service providers and practitioners are required to provide only safe, rational and evidence-based medical treatments. Where non-standard medical treatments are considered, they should only be provided in the context of a clinical study. Providers who fail to meet standards may be subject to regulatory action or enforcement measures, including imprisonment and financial penalties. Senior Minister of State for Health Koh Poh Koon highlighted these provisions in reply to an MP’s question in parliament on Tuesday (May 5).
