Koh Poh Koon on safety of food catered for migrant workers
In Parliament on Tuesday (Oct 15), Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment Koh Poh Koon addressed an MP’s question about inspecting caterers which provide food for migrant workers to ensure that food is prepared within four hours of the workers’ mealtimes. Mr Louis Ng said “many workers” are eating food beyond the four-hour rule. Dr Koh said this was “not something that can be easily solved with a particular policy”, but more a problem of logistics and communication to ensure that food is delivered at the correct time. He asked for specific examples so that a “targeted approach” could be taken, adding that he “(could) not imagine this is pervasive across all worksites”.
