Legal profession, courts need to deal with issues in industry: Shanmugam

Home Affairs Minister K Shanmugam says the legal profession and courts need to deal with issues in the industry,  while gathering more detailed, objective data to better understand the extent of the problems. He was addressing a recent Law Society survey on lawyer attrition, which highlighted issues like a toxic workplace culture. Speaking to NUS law freshmen, he adds that top-end legal practice comes with high demands, but that bullying, harassment and poor supervision are never acceptable. Alexandra Anand reports.
