Make more use of technology to ensure that litterbugs are identified, impose corrective work orders on all offenders and make them serve the punishment in the estate where they were caught, and consider terminating the HDB lease of recalcitrant offenders and taking back the flat for breach of the terms of the lease. These suggestions were made by MP Lim Biow Chuan in Parliament on Monday (Feb 6). Calling the current littering situation in Singapore “unacceptable”, he said the Government must send a strong signal that the offence will not be tolerated.
