Louis Ng on Social Residential Homes Bill
The Social Residential Homes Bill proposes to strengthen safeguards for the safety, welfare and well-being of residents in social residential homes and introduces a licensing framework to raise standards of care and strengthen enforcement, said MP Louis Ng. Speaking in parliament on Tuesday (Apr 8), he sought clarifications on several aspects of the bill. One of them relates to the approval required to deploy individuals to carry out certain prescribed duties. He pointed out that amid manpower challenges, the new requirement may further constrain the limited manpower resources of social residential homes. He wanted to know the duties that are likely to require pre-approval for deployment and the timeframe for such pre-approvals.
