Maintaining balance of GRCs and SMCs provides electoral stability: Chan Chun Sing
Minister-in-charge of the Public Service Chan Chun Sing, said maintaining a balance in the proportion of GRCs and SMCs is needed for stability in the electoral landscape. Speaking in Parliament, he added that maintaining the ratio of MPs to electors will enable them to continue serving their residents effectively. Mr Chan was responding to Non-Constituency MP Hazel Poa, who asked why the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee (EBRC) was not directed to reduce the sizes of GRCs or raise the number of SMCs.
