Maliki Osman on proportion of Singaporeans in autonomous university faculties
Singaporeans made up around 50 per cent of the total faculty in the autonomous universities (AUs) over the past 10 years, with the proportion being the same in humanities- and social science-related departments in the past five years. At the four major universities which have a tenure system, the proportion of Singaporeans in tenure was around 40 per cent in the past decade; in non-tenure, the proportion was higher at around 60 per cent. These figures were given by Second Minister for Education Maliki Osman in response to an MP’s question in Parliament on Wednesday (Mar 9). He said the Government will continue to work with the AUs to build a strong Singaporean core in their faculties.
