Motion: Lee Hong Chuang on reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global transport hub

13:36 Min

Singapore should aim to move from being a transit hub to becoming a decision hub, said MP Lee Hong Chuang. A transit hub is where goods pass through while a decision hub is where companies decide how goods move, where they move, how risks are managed and how regional supply chains are coordinated, he said. This is where higher value jobs are created, reinforcing Singapore's position as a global transportation hub, he said in parliament on Tuesday (Jul 7). As a hub where supply chains are designed, coordinated and trusted, Singapore will need capable local partners and these enterprises should get more government support to innovate, internationalise and grow, he added.
