05:31 Min

The number of road accidents involving heavy vehicles has been declining since 2018. There were more than 700 such accidents in that year and 268 in the first half of this year. Traffic Police does not track if vehicles involved in accidents are ferrying workers. Meanwhile, the top three traffic offences involving heavy vehicles are speeding, running red lights and careless driving. Minister of State for Home Affairs Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim provided these updates in Parliament on Wednesday (Nov 3), in response to an MP's questions. He added that SMEs can apply for a grant to install vehicular safety technology in their heavy vehicles.
