Murali Pillai on Courts (Civil and Criminal Justice) Reform Bill

09:50 Min

One "silver lining" from the COVID-19 pandemic is the hastened digital transformation of the administration of justice in Singapore, said MP Murali Pillai. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Sep 13), he noted that the courts transformed quickly to regain lost ground. He wanted to know what measures will be put in place to ensure fairness in remote hearings. He stressed that the administration of justice must not disadvantage any group. He also said in the administration of justice, the source of power for the guardian of public interest must derive not just from the common law but from the highest law of the land - the Constitution.
