Ng Ling Ling on Retirement and Re-employment (Amendment) Bill and Central Provident Fund (Amendment) Bill

What safeguards are in place to ensure that older workers are treated fairly upon re-employment? That was a question put forward by MP Ng Ling Ling in Parliament on Monday (Nov 1). She gave examples of employers significantly cutting salary, or using medical fitness as an excuse not to re-employ. She also asked how many re-employment disputes have been sent for conciliation, as well as the success rate and average time taken. On a proposed lifting of the CPF annual limit for certain types of voluntary contributions to MediSave, Ms Ng wanted to know if CPF members would be allowed to reallocate their additional voluntary contributions to other accounts, like the Retirement Account, if they find that they do not have significant health issues or medical costs.
