NSF allowance to increase by about 4% to 5% for most servicemen from July

02:45 Min

National servicemen from the armed forces, police and civil defence forces can look forward to a bigger allowance from July. NSFs typically start their service as recruits in the armed forces or civil defence force, or as trainee special constables in the police. Those of that rank will receive S$790 a month from July. Pay will increase around 4% to 5% — or around S$35 to S$75 more each month — across all ranks. Meanwhile, the new Central Manpower Base will progressively open from May. It will be a "one-stop shop" for national service administration. Nicolas Ng reports.
