Singapore must ensure a broader and more open meritocracy that works well for all Singaporeans, and this means rethinking the country's approach to education and work, President Halimah Yacob said on Monday night (Apr 10) as she laid out the key priorities for the remainder of this Government's term. She added that the leadership transition to the 4G team is "well underway" and the team must continue to strengthen their bonds with Singaporeans and work closely with them to write the next chapter of Singapore’s story. Mdm Halimah also stressed that the trust between Singapore’s political leadership and its people, and between Singaporeans themselves, is a key strength that must be nurtured and cherished.
