Pritam Singh's remark 'outrageous' and undermines public trust in judiciary, says Edwin Tong
Singapore's Law Minister Edwin Tong has hit back at Leader of the Opposition Pritam Singh's recent comments, which suggested that "the court of public opinion can be a bigger court than any court in the world". Describing such remarks as "outrageous, plainly wrong and also completely unacceptable", Mr Tong said such an idea is dangerous as the rule of law is a cornerstone of Singapore's system. In response, Mr Singh said his remarks on the CNA programme, The Assembly, were not directed at the judicial system, judges or their independence, He highlighted that there was "important context" that came before the remarks he had made. Sherlyn Seah reports.
