Razwana Begum Abdul Rahim on National Productivity Fund (Amendment) Bill
With an expansion in scope of the National Productivity Fund to cover investment promotion, it is essential to ensure that the quantum allocated to continuing education and training (CET) is not reduced, said NMP Razwana Begum Abdul Rahim. Speaking in Parliament on Thursday (Aug 3), she proposed mandating a minimum allocation of funds for CET-related activities and ring-fencing funds dedicated solely to employee training and development. Assoc Prof Razwana also asked how the return on investment from CET initiatives is monitored. She said that as the nature of work rapidly evolves, CET programmes must be assessed for effectiveness and adaptability. She also suggested expanding the reach of NPF to support the development of workers in the booming gig economy.
