S Iswaran on Singapore's continued economic recovery

Singapore's economy is expected to continue to recover as global growth is projected to remain positive, said Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations S Iswaran. Speaking in Parliament on Monday (Sep 13) in reply to an MP's questions, he said the Trade and Industry Ministry will announce Singapore's 2022 growth forecast in November. He said Singapore's 2021 GDP growth forecast of 6 to 7 per cent took into account several factors. These include global economic recovery, which has remained largely on track, as well as high COVID-19 vaccination rates in key advanced economies. Barring a major setback in the global economy, sectors in Singapore will remain healthy in the second half of the year, with the progressive easing of domestic and border restrictions to support recovery.
