Singapore and South Korea to work on upgrading ties to strategic partnership next year

Singapore and South Korea have agreed to work towards upgrading bilateral relations to a strategic partnership next year, when both countries mark 50 years of diplomatic relations. The two sides are looking for more substantial cooperation in areas such as trade, connectivity and cybersecurity. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol is in Singapore for a three-day state visit. Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and Mr Yoon also witnessed the signing of an extradition treaty, as well as deals in areas covering supply chains, LNG procurement, food safety and developing start-ups.
