Spottiswoode Park residents to get say in use of S$200,000 budget to improve neighbourhood
For the first time, residents in Singapore's Spottiswoode Park estate will decide how to spend a S$200,000 budget to improve their neighbourhood. The pilot initiative, part of a research project by the Institute of Policy Studies, aims to strengthen community ownership by involving residents in proposing and voting on ideas. Suggestions range from gardens to new play areas, though plans must meet budget and regulatory requirements. The selected proposals are expected to be implemented later this year. Charlotte Lim reports.
