Local residents in Singapore can soon undergo subsidised genetic testing for some conditions. The Health Ministry hopes to encourage more to take preventive action for their health without being deterred by costs. Health Minister Ong Ye Kung announced this at the launch of phase three of the National Precision Medicine Programme. The Health Ministry is also working to pass new laws to ensure genetic test results cannot be used in insurance underwriting or by employers, so as to maintain public trust in precision medicine.
